Mobile Communications America - Project Manager

As a project manager for MCA I facilitated the installation of multi-million dollar communications infrastructure projects. Clients ranged from energy companies to state and local governments. Our team provides management, administration, and logistics planning to our project teams to achieve a high quality finished product within budget and on schedule. I created risk estimation calculators, project plans in Microsoft Project, and standardized our department’s documentation.

Shelby County Emergency Communications District (9-1-1) - Communications System Administrator

In this role I maintained a communications infrastructure of 6 tower sites and two dispatch centers in Shelby County, AL. I planned and implemented upgrades that included automation of system alarms, and dashboards showing system status. I worked with maintenance crews to keep all supporting infrastructure at optimal performance. I prepared monthly reports for board members and elected officials to make decisions to fund upgrades and repairs. I created and maintained a database of nearly 2000 radio subscribers for accurate tracking and security of the network.

Allcomm Wireless - Service Manager

Quickly promoted from a technician to the service manager for a crew of 10 technicians, organized operations to increase productivity and efficiency. I wrote employee reviews, and provided team leadership through example and motivation. I worked with project managers to schedule work on multi-million dollar projects for state and local governments.

Marshall County Emergency Management Agency - Logistics Officer

Work as an officer under the direction of the EMA Director to manage equipment, technology, and other assets in preparation for disasters. Worked with local volunteer groups to provide training on emergency response procedures. I wrote federal grant applications for equipment and supplies for disaster use. Worked as a logistics specialist in two presidentially declared disasters in 2010 and the major 2011 tornado outbreak in Alabama.

Hobbies and Interests

It all begins with an idea.

3d Printing

I have been 3d Printing with a Prusa MK3S+ using PLA and PETG materials. I have created lamps, tools, and models. I hope to begin printing with ASA and ABS soon.

Home Automation

I have deployed a Hubitat hub with many Z-wave and Zigbee devices. I am using old tablets to display system status and allow control of devices.

Data collection and anaylitics with Grafana

I host a server that stores data collected from a weather station, home automation hub, and other sensor systems. See the “Dashboard” page for an example.

Weather enthusiast

As a former Meteorology major, I enjoy weather observation and using tools to gather and display weather data. Current project is installing a small satellite dish to receive weather data directly from weather satellites.

Amateur Radio

I posses an Amateur Radio license and have deployed repeaters to tower sites for the community to use. I have participated in disaster drills and exercises to provide emergency communications during disasters.
